Admin: Managing Product Categories

Introduction

The Fluid system gives you the flexibility to create categories and collections to help you better manage your products. Categories are the parent to collections, and in this article we will discuss categories and how to create a category. 

Overview

A category allows you to create the parent to a collection. An example of a category might be Jewelry, and within that category you can have collections, such as necklaces, rings and earrings.

To Create a Category

1. Log in to the Fluid Admin portal.
2. On the left hand navigation sidebar under We-commerce, select Products.
3. On the Product drop down, select "Categories" in the submenu.
4. You now have access to the Categories section within the portal.

Categories Overview

• On the Categories page when first opened, you will see any categories you have created.
  • You have the ability to view:
    • All categories
    • Active categories
    • Inactive categories
  • If you have not created any categories yet, this section will appear blank.

Managing Current Categories

1. Select the category you wish to manage.
2. Once the category opens you have the ability to manage all category settings. 

Creating a New Category

1. Click the blue “+Add Category” button in the top right corner of the screen.
2. Create the Title of the category.
3. Create the description of the category.
4. Add a piece of media for the category.
5. Associate products with the category.
6. Toggle the Category Status to Active in the top right corner.
7. Attach the category to a parent category if you wish.
8. Select the theme for the category.
9. Choose whether to enable SEO or not.
